A great start to the season for Villarreal CF’s female youth sides. After the first few months of the campaign, the results obtained reflect the good work of the Yellows Academy, and underline the growth that the different women’s and girls’ sides are having. The teams are largely made up of players born in the province of Castellón, who grow with and are formed by the Yellows.
In eight-a-side football, the ‘Femenino F8’ team, the eight-a-side girls team, have had a great start to the season. The youngest girls in the Yellows Academy are fighting to be league leader. The ‘Feminino F8’ have a spectacular goalscoring record, with 60 goals to their name, and only three conceded in five league games. Among the top goalscorers in the league are Yellows players Julia Pitarch, with 15 goals, and Laura Beltrán and Balma Villamarín, who both have scored 13 times.
In 11-a-side youth football, we look at the two teams who take part in the Liga Valenta Cadete-Infantil age group, the A team (U16 to U15) and the B team (U14 to U13). Both teams are second in their leagues, and have been solid defensively, keeping a number of clean sheets. The strong defence is also based on a strong attack, with the teams having scored 48 and 33 goals, respectively. The top scorers for the Yellows are Martina Caparrós and Silvia Rodríguez, who both have six, while Lorena Diéguez and Mar Boix both have five.
These numbers underline the great work at youth level for girls’ teams, and underline an exciting future for female football for Villarreal in general. The youngsters dream of stepping up to the first team from the academy, just like Bea Prades, Cristina Díaz and Yolanda Palomino.
