The Yellow Submarine secured a comfortable 3-0 win over Deportivo. This fifth straight victory leaves Villarreal with 30 points and fifth on the table. Víctor Fernández's men couldn't contain Villarreal's offense and early in the match (the 10th minute) Jonathan Dos Santos finished off a rebound after a strike by Denis Cheryshev. The second goal for the home team was scored by young Argentinian talent Luciano Vietto, who tapped in a low cross from Víctor Ruiz (minute 68). The Argentinian repeated under similar conditions just five minutes later with a pass by Cheryshev, who is now the Liga BBVA assist leader. With 3-0 Villarreal played the final minutes down a man after substitute Tomás Pina, who had just entered the pitch a few moments earlier, was sent off when receiving a direct red for a tackle.
Overall a great victory to close the year 2014 for Villarreal CF. The team has performed extremely well these final matches and will now enjoy a week off.
