The Mexican was too disappointed, as minutes later he douns the net . After a corner was given, the Valencia goalkeeper deflected the ball away which Dos Santos latched onto unleashing an amazing diving heading header making it 3-0.

Villarreal played almost at ease but Valencia refused to be defeated so easily. In 62th minute, Ricardo Costa scored from a corner kick making it 3-1 and closing the gap for the away side. They continued to press but Asenjo appeared very comfortable in the goal.

Marcelino's men continued to use the counter effectively as they pressed to extend their lead. The next chance came from set piece. Giovani focused a kick from the right and Mario Gasper, headed a looping shot, but Guaita, with a major intervention, cleared at the last moment.
