Villarreal B head coach Miguel Álvarez appeared in front of the media to analyse the upcoming match against FC Barcelona B, which take place on Sunday 5th December at 5pm CET at the Mini Estadi. Here are the highlights of what the Mini Submarine manager had to say:
Returning to winning ways
“We’re happy. When you win, you’re always happier. We were on a bad run, which all teams in this league will have, as it’s such a tight division. In Linares, the team deserved a lot more against against Linense we won, and that helps the youngster stay calm.”
“They’re a team who are doing things well this year. They’ve lost players, but all of their team has experience in the league. They’re boys who perhaps aren’t so well known because they’re not the ones who have played with the first time, but they have Segunda B experience. They have more than enough quality to play, no doubt about it.”
Two similar styles
“Whenever we face Barcelona, the same thing happens. We like to have possession, but we know that we won’t have the ball for a lot of the time. We’re used to playing against teams who are more direct, but we also have something that will also make Barcelona uncomfortable, and that is that we’re very good on the counter. They key to the match will be defending well without the ball. We need to learn to enjoy defending and be efficient when we have chances.”
