The Submarine gets 1 point in a bumpy match where the referee didn't call a clear penalty on Uche

Villarreal got 1 point in the match against Las Palmas in El Madrigal in a bumpy match where the referee ended up in the center of the action when he didn't call a clear penalty on Uche with ten minutes to go. This point leaves the Yellows with a bittersweet taste and the 7th place in the ranks, but still on the playoffs-for-promotion positions.

The Submarine started the match with the usual determination to dominate the ball possession but keeping a safe defensive line, aware of the powerful counter-attacks of the islanders. Thus, Marcelino's men looked for any leak on Las Palmas' solid defense. Within ten minutes, Uche had a good chance after a good passing play, but the Nigerian's powerful shot went high. Around the 20th minute, Cani was injured and left his position to Trigueros.

Only one minute later the Yellows enjoyed one of the clearest scoring chances. After Mario center, Uche served with a header for the center of the box allowing Moi Gomez, but his shot was rejected by the defenders. Las Palmas was waiting on the back in order ti fastbreak the attacks of the Submarine. They enjoyed their best chance around the 36th minutes with a rapid counterattack that ended up with 3 Las Palmas players against 2 Yellows, though Juan Carlos had a great performance and rejected Thievy's final shot.

With five minutes left before half time, French striker Perbet left some more glimpses of his quality after receiving a great pass from Uche. Jérémy got rid of his mark on the left and with no angle, hit a beautiful shot to the top corner that came really close.

During these final moments, Villarreal scored the opening goal. Farinós served a great corner ball that Musacchio controlled inside the box, the ball went to Perbet who scored with a gentle touch. This very important goal allowed the Submarine to lead the match at half time.

After the break, Villarreal wanted to settle the clash. Around minute 52, the Yellows had another great scoring chance when Vitolo fouled Uche inside the box. It was a clear penalty. Barbosa's great save on Farinós penalty shot left the score 1-0. From that moment on, the match had more intensity. Las Palmas was playing an open game, the ball went back and forth but there were not many scoring chances.

Unfortunately it was Las Palmas who ended up scoring one of those few chances. Murillo's header meant the 1-1 for the islanders. Despite the goal, the Submarine recovered its game and tried to get the victory with Aquino and Trigueros on the wings.

With ten minutes to go came the controversial play of the match. Uche was clearly fouled inside the box after receiving a long pass, but the referee didn't call the play with the resulting protests of the fans.
