Marcelino García Toral will be Villarreal CF's new head coach

The Asturian native was presented in the Sports City yesterday after the training session

Villarreal CF has come to an agreement with coach Marcelino García Toral until the end of the season. The agreement includes an automatic renewal in case of achieving the promotion to the First Division.

47 years old García Toral, arrives to the club with his coaching staff: Assistant coach Rubén Uría and Ismael Fernández as the physical trainer. He was presented to the media in the Sports City's Press Room.

Marcelino retired from professional football at 27, after a very bad knee injury. He played for Sporting, Racing, Levante and Elche making his coaching début commanding CD Lealtad, from his home town. In 2001 he arrives to Sporting's second team achieving the first team's coaching spot two years later. After two seasons with Sporting, Marcelino signs for Recreativo de Huelva, promoting the Andalusian side to Primera.

In his second year in charge of the Andalusians, his team becomes one of the great revelations of the First Division, almost achieving European spots after finishing 8th in the league. At 07-08, he signed for Racing, qualifying for the UEFA Cup for the first time in its history, after finishing fifth in the standings. The following year (08-09), Garcia Toral returns Real Zaragoza to the First Division, but does not finish the season 09-10.

For season 10-11, Racing Santander saves the relegation after taking the lead of the Cantabrians in Week 23. In the 11-12, he signs for Sevilla, where he remained until February 2012.
