Villarreal head coach Unai Emery appeared in front of the media to analyse the Yellows' win over Qarabag at the Başakşehir Fatih Terim Stadium in Istanbul (1-3). The Basque manager hailed the team's reaction after conceding a goal without long to go: "It was a hard-fought match. Especially in the first half. In the second half, we had more chances, and from the Qarabag goal, when the game was looking difficult for us, we were calm enough to turn it around."
Emery also highlighted the importance of the win, which allows the Yellows to continue as leaders of their UEFA Europa League group: "We wanted to win today to continue in the top half of the table. Maccabi also won their match, so we're level on six points. We want to be top of the group and we'll demand a lot from ourselves."
Finally, the Yellows head coach also emphasised the high level of the Azerbaijani side: "We went into the game with a lot of respect for them because they're a team who play football. In the first half, they showed their way of playing, despite us not giving them many chances. Qarabag have a very attractive way of playing that allows them to win."
