Villarreal CF have reached an agreement with Moi Gómez for the extension of his contract until June 2025. The midfielder, who was under contract until 2023, returned to the Yellows last summer for his second spell on board the Submarine.
Since returning to Villarreal, Moi has become a crucial player for the Yellows. Last season, he played in 41 games, scoring five goals and providing eight assists. He also passed the 100-match game for the Yellows first team (now reaching 137 games), and scored Villarreal’s 1000th goal in the top flight.
Moi Gómez, a home-grown player
Formed at the Yellows Academy, Moi arrived at the youth set up aged 11 to play for the U13s (Infantil B). He has represented Spain at U16, U19 and U21 level, and won the U19 División de Honor, as well as having a meteoric rise which saw him debut in LaLiga aged just 17, on 28th November 2011 in the defeat against Málaga CF at La Rosaleda (2-1).
In the following season, in Segunda (2012/13), the midfielder, now a mainstay in the first-team squad, was part of the team who were promoted to LaLiga, where he represented the Yellows twice before moving on to play for Getafe CF, Real Sporting de Gijón and SD Huesca.
