Villarreal manager Javi Calleja was frustrated at his side's lack of defensive solidity from set pieces, as that was the difference between the two sides in the defeat to Real Sociedad (1-2): "On the pitch, it was even. The difference was small details and from set pieces. We weren't convincing. Both individually and collectively we played well but it didn't pay off. We lacked a cutting edge and we need to be more convincing from set pieces," he commented.
For Calleja, having a number of players missing shouldn't be an excuse. "Having players missing isn't an excuse. We weren't very dangerous in attack but we still scored. For the next match, Gerard will be back and we'll see if Paco is back because he's still not completely fit. We will try and see which players are in the best shape to win the two games left. We've got a great squad and we need everyone."
With regards to the next league tie, Calleja warned about the strength of the league leaders: "Real Madrid are the team everyone expects to win the league, it's in their hands and they have the best players in the world. It will be difficult but we will try and compete."
