The midfielder backs the team to pick themselves up after the misstep at the Wanda Metropolitano and focus on beating Athletic Club

Villarreal midfielder Manu Trigueros appeared in front of the press after the defeat to Atlético Madrid (3-1). The footballer recognised that the Yellows lacked cutting edge and strength in a tough ground to visit: "We did the most difficult thing, which was going ahead on the scoreboard. We had phases of possession, but we lacked cutting edge and we needed to cause their goalkeeper more problems."

Despite going ahead on the scoreboard, Villarreal were unable to keep their lead and ended up going behind: "In the second half, we lacked cutting edge. They equalised at the end of the first half, and from there, we sat back too much in our box and they were able to get the second goal. When they're ahead, they are very good defensively and when they shut off at the back it's hard to generate dangerous chances."

The Yellows No.14 backs the team to look forward and continue fighting to be in the European spots: "There are a lot of matches left and there are a number of teams in the fight. We're going to fight to be in Europe next season. Today we played a tough match against a good opponent, who are fighting to win the league. Now we need to think about our trip to Bilbao and try and get the three points there."
