Villarreal manager Javi Calleja appeared in front of the press after the Yellows' win against RCD Espanyol. He underlined the importance of the win and hailed his side's hard work: "It's a very important win. The three points put us in the fight for European spots. We know how to read the game and be effective in front of the goal. We defended well, competing from start to finish."
The head coach from Madrid signalled that this afternoon's match marks the path to follow for the Yellows. "There's a lot left of the season and we need to continue working as hard as possible. LaLiga is really tight and it's really hard to win away from home. You need to properly value the win. We want to maintain the path we marked today, although we need to have more control and more possession."
After the win, Calleja became the manager to take charge of the fourth-highest amount of Yellows games in LaLiga (73), only behind Manuel Pellegrini (190), Marcelino (114) and Víctor Muñoz (77).
