Confirmed. The Estadio de la Cerámica will host Spain’s friendly match on Sunday 3rd June. The ‘Roja’ will take on Switzerland in a clash that will serve as preparation for the Russia 2018 World Cup that will take place this summer.
In fact, this match will be Spain’s penultimate friendly before going to the World Cup in Russia and it will be in a stadium that has only witnessed victory for Spain. The preparation matches for the World Cup will finish in Krasnodar against Tunisia on 9th June.
It will be the third time that Spain has played in Vila-real. The first was on 5th June 1999 and on that day Spain beat San Marino 9-0. The second time was on 19th November 2008 when they won again, beating Chile 3-0.
The Spanish internationals will come to Vila-real after having put in a great performance against Germany to draw 1-1 in Düsseldorf and after a 6-1 thrashing of Argentina at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium.
