Champions in Russia

The Roda U14 team, managed by Marcos Merino, have conquered the Burchalkin Cup

Champions thousands of kilometers away from the Villarreal CF Training Ground (Ciudad Deportiva). The U14 Roda team (Infantil Roda), managed by Marcos Merino, were yesterday crowned champions of the Burchalkin Cup in Saint Petersburg. The Yellows Academy team, made up of players born in 2003, beat Zenit 2-1 in the Final and the Yellows also won the awards for Best Player, that went to Eloy, and Best Striker, given to Llinares.

The Yellow U14s (#CanteraGrogueta) put in a spectacular performance and were without a doubt the sensation of the tournament. In fact, in the Semi-finals the Yellows thrashed CSKA Moscow 6-1, who were the other favourites for the title.

The Roda U14 team had a dream season. In the league the Yellows recorded their best finish in history, with a record number of points before travelling to Russia, as they finished in fifth place in the Liga Autonómica with 50 points, ahead of strong teams such as Hércules and Elche, despite being a team made up of footballers of the first year of U14.
