Manu Trigueros insists that the team’s objective next season will be reaching the European spots
Villarreal midfielder Manu Trigueros recognised that the competition in LaLiga is tougher each year: “At the end of the day, it’s difficult every year. If Villarreal has managed to be in Europe for so many years it’s because they’ve got good players. There is a lot of competition, and there’ll be even more next year. We’ll have to make it tough for our opponents to get to a high level and be towards the top of the table, that’s what we want.”
The Yellows No.14 insists that the team will strengthen to aspire for the top next season: “Next year, we will have clear weeks to prepare LaLiga matches, as well as time for the Copa del Rey, which is also a nice competition in which we want to go far. But from next year, the aim will be to get back into Europe and that’s what we all think, both the fans and the players.”
Finally, Trigueros highlighted the complexity that finishing towards the top of the table brings. “Each season it’s more difficult because all of the teams strengthen well. However, this will help us realise how tough it is to get into the European spots.”
